Pride is generally celebrated and recognized in the month of June. This year recognized the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall riots with the hosting of World Pride 2019 in New York City. Do you know the story behind the Pride Flag? The colors. The original Pride Flag was made up of 8 colors, and first flown on June 25, 1978, at San Francisco's United Nations Plaza for Gay Pride Day. Each color has a meaning, and the first flags were hand made (dyed and stitched). Hot pink - Sex Red - Life Orange - Healing Yellow - Sunlight Green - Nature Turquoise - Magic/Art Indigo - Serenity Violet - Spirit The colors of the flag were modified over time based on availability of fabric, and then also only 6 colors was easier to reproduce. The most common form is now red, orange, yellow, green, indigo and violet.
